Was His Eye on the Wrens?
Aug 15, 2020

This week has been one of the most bizarre yet for 2020. I am so grateful we survived it and are coming out the other side of it with some unforgettable moments and experiences. It's little experiences like these that inspire my art, and leave me fulfilled.
One of those unforgettable moments was when I discovered that my favorite birdhouse and little wren family, were spared from the destruction of Monday's 100+MPH derecho wind storm, here in eastern Iowa.
We had 100+MPH straight line winds that took out several of our next door neighbor's fence panels, despite the fact that the wind was moving along that fence, rather than against it.
The colorful birdhouse, hand made by my husband's uncle Keith, sits, unfastened, mind you, to a metal table only a few feet away from the fence panels that were blown out!
Not only was this wren filled birdhouse unattached to the table, but the wind would have been blowing right against the broad back side of it! Have you ever heard the hymn, "His Eye is On The Sparrow" ? Neither had I, until my mom in law told me, after I had told her about the wren house!
