Grounds for Creativity

Last week, when Tim and I were in Ames, for the tree conference, I found a new place to hang out that was near our hotel. Provisions!

I had a few hours to kill before I needed to head over to pick Tim up, so after a morning of sketching the giant Sycamore tree, I decided to follow the recommendation of a friend, thanks Vanessa!

I really connected with the artwork that was hanging over this booth. I admired the smallness of the figure in the piece, because I always feel that way, whenever I am out in the wilderness, experiencing nature. So I nestled myself into the booth, and spent a bit more time working on this sketch.

Some day, I'd like to do some kind of painting based on the colors from the first image that inspired the initial sketch here.

Which brings me to my next question for you!

What kind of art do you prefer to display in your home?

  •  An actual photo?
  •  A painting that is realistic?
  • Or a painting that represents the colors from an image that is more abstract?
  • Are you partial to one style, or prefer an eclectic mix of whatever moves you.
  • If the last choice is you, what moves you? What are you drawn to?
